Selfie and Shutterbug

Image
Part 1: self portrait vs. "selfie"  In our world today, many people confuse the "selfie" and self portraits. A selfie is a photo taken of oneself by oneself, and is usually posted on social media websites. A self portrait is a photograph taken by the photographer of the photographer, it usually represents what they think of themselves. The difference between the two is that the selfie is for people who view the photo and the person who took it, while the self portrait is a piece of art. I personally prefer self portraits because they truly resemble how I, the photographer, feel in that very moment. Selfies are just quick poorly taken pictures while self portraits are clear and well taken photos. Self portraits are way more valuable than selfies because they are thought out, while selfies aren't valuable because not much thought is put into it. You may be wondering why people confuse these terms, well they are fairly similar to most people. Both are pictures of

Phobia Preview

1. A phobia is an irrational fear of something. 2. Geniophobia- Fear of chins Euphobia- Fear of hearing good news. Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia- Fear of the number 666 Judeophobia- Fear of Jews  Pedophobia- Fear of children  3. An idea I have for a phobia photo would to have the fear presented in some way, shape, or form and have someone who is genuinely afraid of it. I would want to have the phobia Hexakosioihexehontahexaphobia in it. I would put 666 everywhere around the person. Then I would capture their fear. Yes, I know this sounds really sadistic but I promise it's not. I would shoot it horizontally to get the subject in the center and the 666's all around it. I will use rule of the thirds for this. The perspective would be from above the person, and the person would be laying down. It would be fairly dark, black and white filter, but still a crisp image. I would want to see the person having a scared facial expression.  I would do claustrophobia for another fe

Deadlines in Journalism

1. The origins of the word deadline are uncertain, but the earliest one are lines that do not move. Then the word was used during the Civil War, prisoners could not cross certain lines. Now it is used by almost everyone, meaning that you need to turn something in or do it on time. 2. The impact of today's deadline will give me motivation to do my best and turn it in on time. 3. In World Geography I sometimes struggle with deadlines for the sketch maps. She tells us one date then changes it without letting people know. 4. I do not miss deadlines on a daily basis, probably once a week with homework, maybe less than that. 1. I think the first suggestion will be the most help to me. I make to-do lists occasionally and they have never failed me. 2. I think keeping my work with me would be the hardest one because some things are not very portable. 3. I am definitely a night person, I don't even open my eyes to turn my phone alarm off. 3a. At night I can get easily distr

I chose Gabby D'Angelo's photography blog. I really liked her final, the 80s photo shoot. This photo stuck out to me because it looks like it is straight out of an eighties movie. I liked her portrait shoot a lot. This picture is kind of nostalgic because she looks like she is having fun on a playground.

Welcome 2018

This is one of my favorite photos of 2017 because it has so many things happening at once. The volcanic eruption is the main subject, but then the lightning striking just adds even more to this photo. I am pretty crazy about weather so I find this to be very intriguing. This photo immediately caught my eye, hehe aren't I just so punny? Anyway, this photo got my attention because I thought that whoever did this wanted to be seen or heard. I love this photograph very much. I love everything about this picture. From the shutter speed affecting the motion of everyone, to the bright colors, and to the Washington monument directly in the center. This photo was taken at the women's march in Washington DC. 1. I think the best song of 2017 was 1-800-273-8255 by Logic because it was one of the few songs with a meaningful message. It raised awareness for mental illness by the title of the song, and the music video. This song is not my favorite song but it was easily
